Path of Exile 2 Patch 0.5.0 Runes of Aldur League Mechanics Guide by POECURRENCY.com | Farming Verisium & Upgrading Uniques via Forging Table

Guys, the latest leaks regarding Path of Exile 2 Patch 0.5.0 reveal a wealth of content. As the last major patch before 1.0, players need a clear overview to determine if Patch 0.5.0 is worth exploring in depth. Today, POECURRENCY will explain one of the key highlights of this update: Runes of Aldur league.

Launching alongside Patch 0.5.0 is Runes of Aldur league. Its mechanics have now been fully clarified. For players looking to farm PoE 2 currency efficiently, Runes of Aldur league offers a powerful new method through its Rune Pillar encounters.

Core NPC and Gameplay Flow

Players will first encounter the NPC Farrow in Act 1. After clearing out the monsters surrounding him, you will receive a Rune Book.

Subsequently, as you traverse various maps throughout the game, you will randomly encounter Rune Pillars featuring rune slots. Each pillar typically comes with a single blue, locked rune already pre-slotted; the remaining slots must be actively filled by selecting runes from your Rune Book.

The combination of runes you select determines not only the intensity of the modifiers applied to the monsters when they respawn, and thus the difficulty of the combat, but also the type of rewards you will ultimately receive.

When you arrive at a Rune Pillar, you must first defeat the initial wave of monsters present in the area. Then, interact with the pillar to select your runes. Afterward, all the monsters you previously defeated will respawn on the spot, empowered by every modifier you selected.

The more slots you fill, the more waves of monsters you will face; while the combat becomes exceptionally challenging, the final rewards are incredibly lucrative.

Besides standard PoE2 currency and league-exclusive resources, a six-slot Rune Pillar even has the potential to directly drop Uncut Level 20 Skill Gems. This alone makes Rune Pillar mechanic a core piece of endgame content that every player will want to farm.

New Resource: Verisium

Verisium is a mysterious substance of extraterrestrial origin, primarily obtained by completing Rune Pillar encounters. Its purpose is to allow you to add a brand-new defensive stat, known as Runic Ward, to your equipment at a Forging Table.

Notably, Runic Ward does not occupy one of your equipment’s existing modifier slots; it functions as an additional bonus that exists entirely independently of the standard modifier system.

A Brand-New Layer of Defense

When you equip gear bearing Runic Ward modifier, the game’s core life-protection mechanics undergo a fundamental transformation.

Under normal circumstances, your character dies the moment their Life drops to zero. However, with Runic Ward active, reaching zero Life does not result in immediate death; instead, Runic Ward begins to absorb all subsequent incoming damage. Your character only truly perishes once Runic Ward has been completely depleted.

In other words, this effectively provides you with an additional safety net for survival, supplementing your existing layers of Life and Energy Shield. Ideally, you can construct a robust defensive framework comprising three distinct layers: Life, Energy Shield, and Runic Ward.

Furthermore, POECURRENCY would like to point out that the capabilities of Forging Tables extend far beyond this. By expending Verisium, you can completely strip a piece of gear of its base defensive stats, such as Armor, Evasion, or Energy Shield, and convert those stats into a substantial amount of Runic Ward.

For instance, a chest piece that originally provided 2,700 Armor might, after undergoing this forging process, lose its Armor rating but gain 995 points of Runic Ward. This allows heavy armor, typically suited only for Strength-based characters, to be effectively utilized by a much wider variety of character builds.

Even more exciting is the fact that, upon completing specific quests, Forging Tables can be used to upgrade the tier of Unique items.

This process elevates the item’s required level and base stats to match your current character’s level, allowing Unique items that were highly effective during the early game, but typically became obsolete later on, to once again shine as powerful tools in the endgame.

Some Unique items even have their exclusive modifiers altered through the forging process; this means that items previously considered niche or underwhelming could, overnight, be transformed into core components of a high-performance character build.

League-Exclusive Skills and Support Gems

This league introduces approximately 100 new Kalguur skills. These skills carry no requirements regarding weapon type, character class, or attribute allocation, making them usable by any character build. Crucially, the resource required to activate these skills is none other than the aforementioned Runic Ward.

For example, Triskelion Cascade skill costs 15 Runic Ward to unleash multiple projectiles. Another skill enables you to convert all damage dealt by your Fire skills into Cold damage. Yet another skill temporarily transfers your Runic Ward to summoned creatures, preventing them from being instantly wiped out by AoE attacks in boss fights.

The league also introduces a set of exclusive Support Gems. A prime example of this is a gem that causes the supported skill to consume an additional 20% of your maximum Runic Ward, in exchange for granting a damage bonus equal to 50% of Runic Ward consumed.

If you possess 1,000 points of Runic Ward, expending 200 points per skill usage grants you a 100% damage boost. However, this cost also means that you can only use the skill a maximum of five times before you need to accumulate Runic Ward again.

This design fundamentally alters the operational logic of skill resources, as well as the approach to build crafting.

With so many new systems to explore – Runic Ward, Forging Table upgrades, and over 100 Kalguur skills – having a steady supply of currency is more important than ever. Whether you need to craft gear, socket runes, or test new builds, you can buy PoE 2 currency from POECURRENCY.com to save time and skip the grind.

In short, Runes of Aldur league introduces an entirely new system of defensesand skills – one well worth a deep divefor every player as they prepare for Patch 0.5.0!
